What can a Positive attitude do for you?!

Positive Attitude!

If I started to complain about something my mother would always tell me to have a positive attitude. I don’t know about you, but when I was 10 years of age that didn’t make me feel any better! I think through experience and growing up one really starts to appreciate and believe in the powers of a having a positive attitude.

I now catch myself always finding the positive in everything and BELIEVING that if I work hard enough and appreciate all that surrounds me that I am bound to come out on top. Mom was right.

With the economy being unstable I was having uneasy feelings about my job and whether we would get any business. I replaced all these “what if’s” with positive statements and I am happy to say with hard work, determination and a positive outlook, we have placed 9 wonderful candidates with 9 stable companies in the last 2 months. I hope you all are keeping a positive attitude so you can embrace all the wonderful things that are coming your way!

Love what you do?

I’d like to tell you a story of why we love what we do. We have a new client that has a twelve person Recruiting Department. They typically don’t use recruiters. From their viewpoint, why should they pay a fee when they have a full time staff whose sole job it is to bring in candidates? Sounds like we are not needed, right?

Wrong! This client combed through hundreds of resumes and actually brought in 40 people!!! We explained our partnering approach to recruiting wherein we don’t waste our client’s time or our candidate’s time. We promised only to send candidates who perfectly matched their CEO’s support position.
The CEO, like all bosses, had some unique needs. He was looking for a combination of personal assisting and executive assisting. He also needed strong MS Office 2007, dictation and an ability to read his mind. The Executive Assistant also needed to teach the CEO how to truly utilize his assistant.

We found an amazing candidate. She has worked for a similar entrepreneur and knew exactly what the CEO needed. The entire staff loved her and the CEO hired her on the spot! The Recruiter said that Wisdom & Williams was a “breath of fresh air” in the recruiting industry. We now have a new friend and the opportunity to help other candidates. Don’t you wish you had the chance to change lives for the better as we do???

One of our favorite clients called…

One of the joys of this industry are the amazing relationships we have with both clients and candidates. In this case, a dear friend of ours called for help. We have staffed most of their administrative and coordinator positions. Over the years, we have seen them grow beautifully and carefully add staff that makes them an even greater organization. It is our pleasure to work with them because they take care of their staff and encourage that staff to grow-which is something we don’t often see.

Can you imagine what a pleasure it is so send a candidate to meet with this special group and KNOW that each candidate will want to work there. This special group proves to us that if you take care of your people and encourage them to stretch, you will attract the best of the best and continue the positive cycle.

Welcome to the Wisdom & Williams blog, a new venture for us. We hope it gives you insight into the hiring process and why we feel privileged to help you as you move forward in your careers and lives.

Today was a typical day where a referred candidate came in to visit with us because she was temporarily stymied in her search. She has an advanced degree and found that it was preventing her from finding work, she kept hearing, “you’re overqualified.” Can you believe that? Through some probing, we discovered that she has a real talent for organizing and creating a team environment where everyone can be successful. We don’t take anything at face value and realize that a resume is only half the story. We have a unique view, not unlike a counselor, to see your career without the emotion that all of us invest in our jobs. We listen to what makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning and your goals. By taking a longer view we had the unique opportunity to help reveal the “story” thread of her career and intangible qualities that you’ll never discover on a piece of paper.

In life, we all carry around “a story”. Sometimes that story propels us forward, sometimes it holds us back. Likewise, we each have a career “story” that brings us to the opportunity at hand. Your job as an applicant is to show how your “story” is a compelling reason for an employer to hire you. We appreciate the opportunity to learn and focus on your strengths. Seeing the light turn on in a candidates eye’s, the “aha moment” makes it all worth while! 1/09/09
